EU President Donald Tusk yesterday said that while the EU should help those in danger at sea, its priority remains the security of its member states. Tusk was on a day-long trip to Malta yesterday and addressed the press along with PM Joseph Muscat. 

In-Nazzjon

This newspaper claims that officials within the Gozo ministry are uncomfortable with the sudden attention the ministry is currently receiving as a result of allegations of misconduct aimed at former minister Giovanna Debono. In-Nazzjon suggests that the ongoing investigation should broaden to include the past two years of Labour administration. 

L-Orizzont

Last year, Malta Enterprise approved some €143 million in investments, generating over 2,500 jobs. Economy minister Chris Cardona said that industrial production had, as a result, gone up by 7.6% in January 2015 over the same month last year.

John Dalli has said that Swedish Match, not his former canvasser Silvio Zammit, had manipulated his forced resignation. The former EU health commissioner maintains that it was the Swedish tobacco company who approached Zammit to discuss the EU tobacco directive.
