John Vella, husband of Labour MEP Miriam Dalli, has taken to Facebook to complain about the cost of buying a flight ticket from Malta to Brussels via Air Malta.

Vella, the son of EU Commissioner and former tourism minister Karmenu Vella, said that an Air Malta flight from Malta to Brussels between 30 August and 4 October costs €431.12 and that a Brussels Airlines ticket on those same dates costs €287.12.

He added that an Air Malta flight from Malta to Brussels between 11 and 25 October costs €413.12 and that a Brussels Airlines flight on those same dates costs €210.12.

“I’m feeling disgusted,” Vella posted, followed by a series of hashtags expressing his wish to see other airlines too operating the Malta-Brussels route all year round and "to stop Air Malta's monopoly" on the route.
