The collapse of the foundations of Triq Torri Sopu in San Blas, Gozo, earlier this week has put the picturesque valley at risk of a flood of sewage.

In 2012, MaltaToday reported on the situation, with the road's foundations already showing signs of wear and some stones already having come loose. Authorities had been informed at the time but no action was taken.

Earlier this week however the foundations collapsed further, with a great number of stones falling onto the structure housing a large sewage drain, putting the valley and the sea beyond at risk of a sewage flood that would wreak havoc on area's flora and fauna.
