Over 6,000 third country nationals working in Malta

6,027 people hailing from non-EU countries are currently working in Malta, almost a third of whom work in elementary occupations

6,027 third country nationals, hailing from countries that don’t form part of the EU, are currently working in Malta. 1,128 of these are from the Philippines, 793 are Serbians, 346 are Chinese, 333 are Eritreans, 291 are Indians, 263 are Libyans, and 213 are Russians.

The information was tabled in Parliament by Work Minister Evarist Bartolo in response to a parliamentary question by Opposition MP Charlo Bonnici.

Almost a third of these people (1,993) work in elementary occupations. 608 of them work as managers, 665 as professionals, 765 as technicians or associate professionals, 146 as clerks or support workers, 816 as services and sales worker, 24 as skilled agricultural, fishery and forestry workers, 847 as crafts workers, and 182 as plant and machine operators.
