Gozitan whistleblower’s testimony ‘exposes’ Busuttil, PL says

Labour says Simon Busuttil must shoulder responsibility and answer for his actions.

In a statement issued on Tuesday evening, the Labour Party hit out at PN leader Simon Busuttil accusing him of having kept hidden a conversation that took place with Gozitan whistleblower Joe Cauchi at the PN headquarters.

In court this afternoon, Cauchi said that during a meeting with Busuttil, the latter had asked him why he had proceeded with the works if he knew “that the PN was not going to be re-elected”.

For months the Labour Party has been calling on Busuttil to reveal what he had told the whistleblower.

“The country has finally learnt what Busuttil’s reply was. The PN leader should be ashamed of his comment,” the PL said.

The PL said that Busuttil did not report the case to the police and did not take any steps: “Busuttil’s only concern was that the racket went on even as the election got closer. As if for Simon Busuttil it could go on if the PN had won the election.”

The PL said Busuttil had to shoulder responsibility and answer for his actions.
