Prime Minister to discuss potential collaborations with Hong Kong

Malta’s potential in the financial services sector is discussed in meeting with the Hong Kong Financial Services, Securities and Futures Commission

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and Malta Financial Services Authority chairman Joseph Bannister met with the regulator of the Hong Kong Financial Services, Securities and Futures Commission to discuss possibilities for further collaborations on a regulatory level between the two organisations.

Muscat is currently in Hong Kong as the primary speaker at the EU-Asia Relations in Financial Services Symposium taking place between 27th and 29th May.

The Executive Chief regulator of Hong Kong, Ashley Alder said that Malta has great potential in the Financial Services sector. Other methods to facilitate business between the parties were also discussed in detail.

Bannister talked about the prospects of enlarging the Financial Services in Malta.

 The Maltese Ambassador for China, Clifford Borg-Marks and the chief of staff for the office of the Prime Minister, Keith Schembri were also present at the event.
