Labour boasts of cheap fuel prices

Labour reminds everyone that fuel prices in Europe are on the rise while Malta is the only EU country were prices are down

Quoting European Commission statistics, the Labour Party has said that fuel prices in Europe have increased by 1c this week.

The same statistics, Labour said, show that there has been a 20c increase in petrol since January, while diesel prices  increased by 14c over the same period.

“In the same period, petrol prices in malta decreased by 7c while diesel prices were down by 9c. Fuel prices only decreased in Malta.”

It added that 15 countries have higher prices than Malta and the statistics “trounce the opposition’s fairy tale that the hedging of fuel is disadvantageous.”

Boasting that in the first two years of the Labour administration petrol prices went down by 11% and diesel by 10%, the party lambasted the opposition’s energy policies, claiming these would have led to an increase in fuel prices.
