Total arrivals drop by 0.7% and nights spent drop by 4.3%

Total arrivals and nights spent in collective accommodation establishments during April 2015 declined by 0.7 and 4.3% respectively when compared to the corresponding month in 2014

NSO figures show that in April, total arrivals in collective accommodation establishments numbered 142,311, while total nights spent amounted to 720,462.

Data shows that all collective accommodation categories recorded decreases in total nights spent, with the largest share of guest nights reported in 4-star hotels, accounting for 341,886 nights, or 47.5% of the total.

Figures reveal that the average length of stay in collective accommodation establishments went down to 5.1 nights in April 2015 from 5.3 nights in the same month of 2014.

The net use of bed-places stood at 63.1%, down by 0.7 percentage points when compared to the corresponding month last year, NSO added.

According to NSO, on a national level, there were 157 active collective accommodation establishments during April, with a net capacity of 17,614 bedrooms and 38,345 bed-places.

Figures reveal that total arrivals during the first four months of 2015 amounted to 416,422, an increase of 2.7% over the same period of 2014, whereas total nights spent went up by 1.6%, reaching nearly 2.2 million. The net use of bed-places advanced by 2.6 percentage points to 51.2%.
