Paul Camilleri of Cospicua has won a year’s worth of free travel on the public transport network with the tallinja card, after making the millionth bus journey using the card.

Malta Public Transport said that Camilleri uses public transport on a daily basis and had “positive comments’ to make about the public transport network and the newly-launched tallinja card.

“More than 60,000 journeys are made every day with the tallinja card,” MPT commercial director Daniel Grech said. “This figure keeps growing as more cards are distributed. This shows the increasing confidence in the new payment system by both regular and occasional users of the public transport.

“185,000 people have applied for a tallinja card. This represents almost half the Maltese and Gozitan population. Most of these cards have been already posted.”
