Alleged elderly abuse case at Saint Vincent de Paul Residence

SVPR management report case to the police

An alleged abuse case on an elderly at Saint Vincent de Paul Residence has been reported to the police, the Ministry for the Family said in a statement.

The Ministry said that, the residence’s management took the necessary actions as soon they were informed of the incident and the case was passed on to the police for further investigation.

The Ministry added that the incident was immediately referred to the authorities for justice.

The Opposition subsequently issued a statement condemning the alleged abuse and called for a bi-partisan approach in policies to safeguard the elderly.

Shadow family minister Paula Mifsud Bonnici however condemned the government “for lack of action on any other cases of elderly abuse”.

“The government must apply the same yardstick on any alleged case of abuse that is reported. This is the only way to ensure that the elderly and their rights are protected,” he said.
