Social partners will be able to tap into €1 million of EU funds to finance their projects.

Speaking at a meeting of the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development, EU funds parliamentary secretary Ian Borg said that social partners would be able to submit funding proposals for training and research initiatives.

Each project will be allocated a maximum of €100,000 and each proposal will be analyzed by the European Commission.

“This scheme was launched to improve efficiency within the public sector and to contribute to several sectors, including those of national interest,” Borg told the social partners, while urging them to “seize this opportunity” for funding.

Social partners have until 4 September to submit their project proposals.

MCESD members include the General Workers’ Union, the Union Haddiema Maghqudin, the Malta Employers’ Association, the Chamber of Commerce, the Confederation of Malta Trade Unions, the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association, the General Retailers and Traders Union, the Civil Society Committee, and the Gozo Regional Committee.
