AFM helps rescue fisherman in distress

The Armed Forces of Malta have assisted in the rescue of a fisherman who had lost consciousness on board a locally registered fishing vessel, around 11 nautical miles east of Malta.

In a statement, the AFM said that that the elderly man was given first aid and successfully transferred to St. Luke’s Helipad by an Italian Air Force AB212 helicopter that is based in the AFM’s Air Wing base as part of the Italian Military Mission.

An ambulance transferred the man to Mater Dei Hospital for further treatment.
