Industrial production price index down 0.45% in July

Prices for the non-domestic market dropped by 0.75 per cent as prices in respect of goods destined for the non-euro area and euro area decreased by 0.96 and 0.42 per cent respectively.

Provisional data indicate that the industrial producer price index in July 2015 decreased by 0.45 per cent over the previous month.

During July, the producer price index for total industry went down by 0.45 per cent to 94.23 points. Prices for intermediate goods decreased by 0.80 per cent, whilst consumer goods prices decreased by 0.30 per cent. Energy and capital goods prices remained constant.

Prices within the domestic market remained unchanged.

On an annual basis, the industrial producer price index went down by 1.80 per cent when compared to 2014. The downturn resulted from price decreases in energy (14.02 per cent) and intermediate goods (1.23 per cent). On the other hand, prices within capital and consumer goods rose by 1.85 and 1.12 per cent respectively.

Producer prices for the domestic market decreased by 3.91 per cent, mainly on account of a drop in prices for energy (14.02 per cent) and intermediate goods (0.21 per cent). Price increases were recorded in capital goods (3.91 per cent) and in consumer goods (0.53 per cent).

Non-domestic prices declined by 0.21 per cent, resulting from decreases of 0.48 per cent and 0.06 per cent within the euro and the non-euro area respectively.
