Residents in Sliema paying the price for Muscat's incompetence - PN

PN deputy leader Beppe Fenech Adami said in a press statement that the government was shirking its responsibility to solve the problem of crime in the Sliema, St Julians and Swieqi areas

The Nationalist party has blamed what it called the government’s incompetence for the rise in crime in Sliema, Swieqi and the neighbouring areas.

PN deputy leader Beppe Fenech Adami said in a press statement that the government was shirking its responsibility to solve the problem, instead asking residents to stay at home, refrain from keeping valuables at their residence and changing the locks on their doors.

While the police force does its utmost to fight crime, the statement said, it lacked the manpower and resources to properly fight crime in their localities.

“Instead of spending millions in corrupt deals,” he said, “the government ought to invest in the police force in order to tackle the issue.”

“The Nationalist party empathises with residents facing uncertainty, particularly the elderly who are afraid to leave their homes.

“Malta and Gozo are paying the price for Joseph Muscat’s incompetence.”
