Musophobia sufferers don’t worry: ‘no rat infestation’ at BOV branch

Bank of Valletta issues statement denying ‘a rat infestation' at BOV Preluna Towers Branch … it was just one dead rat entrapped above the soffit

Bank of Valletta has issued a statement denying there was a “rat infestation” in its branch at the Preluna Towers … it was just “one dead rat entrapped above the soffit”.

“Contrary to what has been reported in The Times online, there is no "rat infestation" at BOV Preluna Towers Branch,” the bank said in a statement.

Earlier this week, staff complained of a bad odour originating from a section of the Branch premises. The Bank immediately closed the Branch in order to investigate the source and take remedial action.

“This measure was taken in the best interests of the health and safety of staff and customers using these premises,” a spokeswoman for the bank said. “The source of the smell was traced to one dead rat entrapped above the soffit, which had entered the premises from outside.”

The branch will be re-opened once the necessary securing and cleaning up of the premises is completed.
