Air Malta has been appointed as the official airline for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) being held in Malta between the 27 and 29 November.

Through this agreement Air Malta will be at the forefront of this prestigious event for Malta.

The airline is co-operating closely with the CHOGM Task Force and offering reduced fares to the large number of delegations and accredited members of the international media who will be travelling to Malta in November.

“CHOGM Malta 2015 is a high profile event that will showcase Malta’s qualities to 53 countries around the Commonwealth and almost 1,000 international media representatives. As the island’s national carrier, we are proud to support this event which will undoubtedly leave a positive impact on Malta’s global standing and reputation,” Air Malta chairperson Maria Micallef said.

“The theme chosen for this year’s CHOGM - Adding Global Value – fits perfectly with the airline’s efforts throughout the years to add global value to Malta. Through its flight network, the airline has contributed significantly to Malta’s development and enabled the nation to pursue worldwide horizons.”

Phyllis Muscat, head of the CHOGM Malta 2015 Taskforce said they were delighted to be working with Air Malta, in an important event showcasing Malta as a place of international diplomacy.

“Air Malta, as the national airline, will play a crucial role, giving visitors their first taste of Maltese hospitality and a warm welcome to our islands,” Muscat said.

The taskforce said CHOGM Malta 2015 will have a positive parallel effect on areas such as tourism and the economy and Air Malta is gearing up to be actively involved in marketing and promoting CHOGM.

Special in-flight announcements will greet participants, delegates and members of the media who will be attending and reporting on the meetings.

Shorts videos about CHOGM, Malta and Air Malta will be screened on the airline’s in-flight entertainment system.

“The Maltese airline has always been at the forefront to assist the organisation of such events and through its participation it is showing its commitment and support to this national event for the benefit of the Maltese community,” Air Malta said.
