Headlines today are dominated by The Queen's arrival on the island yesterday, accompanied by Prince Philip, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, ahead of the Commonwealth meeting. Inclement weather prompted a change in the royal family's program.

The European Court of Human Rights ruled that Malta violated the rights of a Somali woman by keeping her in detention while her asylum claim was being processed.

Over 16,000 foreign nationals are active within the labour force in Malta, NSO data reveals. This includes foreign nationals seeking asylum, foreign nationals who have been in Malta less than a year and Maltese nationals who return to the island after a spell abroad.
