[WATCH] Donated patrol vessel battles rough seas on way to Malta

A video shot by a crew member shows the kind of inclement weather the crew had to contend with on their journey from Cork to Valletta.

The Armed Forces' new patrol vessel, the P62 - formerly the LÉ Aoife - made its way to Malta last week after being donated by the Irish government.

The trip however was not exactly smooth sailing. A video, shot by L.Bdr Clayton Gatt and uploaded by the AFM to Facebook, shows the kind of inclement weather the crew had to contend with on their journey from Cork to Valletta.

A voyage to remember....

This 'no comment' footage was captured by L.Bdr Clayton Gatt (a crew member on board P62), as it sailed from Cork to Valletta last week. Some say the job of a Maltese soldier is a walk in the park....

The vessel underwent a refit before making the journey to Malta, where it will be used while patrol vessel P61 undergoes repairs and the AFM can purchase a new vessel.
