112 residence permits revoked in 10 months

Home Affairs Minister says Identity Malta ‘revokes residence permits’ on a regular basis

No less than 112 residence permits were withdrawn by Identity Malta over the past 10 months, a parliamentary question has revealed.

In reply to a question raised by PN MP Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici, Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela said that Identity Malta revoked residence permits on a regular basis.

“This is a continuous exercise. Identity Malta revokes residence permits on a regular basis after conditions on which the permit was issued are no longer applicable. One such example is when a foreigner terminates their employment or studies in Malta,” Abela replied.

No details were provided on the nationality of the permit holders.

In his reply, the minister also said that no statistics were found of permits revoked under the previous administration.
