In the Press: EU seek to ban under-16s from social media

The EU is seeking to ban the use of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp by children under 16. Currently the limit for most sites is 13 but new legislation, if it is approved, will allow countries to set their own age limits, between 13 and 16, for the use of these services.

The youth section of the Nationalist party, the MZPN, said that Maltese youths feel betrayed by the government after it emerged that a second university was not on the cards.

The General Workers Union and the AFM have reached an initial agreement about the compensation due to personnel who worked during the two international summits held last month.

BOV Chairman John Cassar White said that Michael Falzon's early retirement package had been tailor-made for the parliamentary secretary. Cassar White spoke during the BOV AGM, where he was confirmed chairman.
