Discount supermarket chain Lidl, what has developed ODZ outlets in Safi and Luqa, has managed to find 12,000 square metres of disturbed land within the development zone to build a new retail outlet in Fgura.

A police raid at the Government Property Department last January was not part of a criminal investigation but “an operation to secure documents that will be seen by the Commission”. The so-called commission is the board chaired by judge Lawrence Quintano and which was set up by the Prime Minister to oversee the department’s administration.

The Chamber of Advocates has called for an urgent review in the system of appointment of judges and magistrates, insisting that the candidates should be chosen by a specially appointed authority and that they should at least 15 years’ experience working the courts.
