In the Press: Chief Justice fails EU Court of Justice screening

Chief Justice Silvio Camilleri failed the screening process to sit on the European Court of Justice. Justice minister Owen Bonnici said the panel of retired judges carrying out his evaluation found objection not with his experience or integrity, but with his level of expertise with EU law. The University's head of European Law Peter Xuereb is to be nominated instead.

Most Maltese banks would not have anything to do with companies registered in Panama, a tax expert told this newspaper. Like most European banks, any involvement, at any level, with a Panamanian company would mean a refusal from Maltese banks to open accounts and transfer money to and from the entity.
