The Vatican has launched a process to beatify Bro. Louis Camilleri, who passed away in 2011 at 88 years of age.

Bro Louis, who in the late 1930s left Malta to study in France, returned to Malta in 1945 having fled the Nazis during the Second World War.

As a teacher, and having joined the Christian Brothers of De La Salle, he taught thousands of students in geography, religion and languages.

He was director of both De La Salle College and Stella Maris College as well as St Benild School and went on to serve as Provincial.

Bro. Louis was also known for his deep spirituality.
