In the Press: Panama ignores most information requests from Malta

Panama has ignored requests for information from Malta's anti-money laundering agency for the last decade, highlighting the difficulty in conducting a full audit of companies registered in the secretive state.

The government yesterday voted against the Opposition's motion to have independent MP Marlene Farrugia appointed chairperson of the environment and planning committee.

The Siggiewi local council voted against changing the name of a new playing field, currently under construction. The council voted to retain the name - 'Nalizperla', the pen name of caricaturist Maurice Tanti Burlo - despite objections that it was too politically charged.

The veterinary department has defended the order to cull several hundred unregistered sheep belonging to Gozitan farmer Gianni Attard. The department said the cull was 'legitimate and inevitable' and was in the interest of public safety.
