In the Press: New centre-left party 'lacks ideological direction'

The fledgling centre-left political party, led by former Labour MP Marlene Farrugia and aimed at creating an anti-corruption challenge to the current duopoly, lacks a cohesive ideological direction, sources say. Alternattiva Demokratika has also announced that it would not sway from its own political path in support of the new party.

Inmates at Corradino Correctional Facility are owed thousands for work they carried out on events organized by the Marigold Foundation, run by the PM's wife Michelle Muscat. 14 inmates are said to be owed €16,000 for designing and sewing work for a June 2015 exhibition, soft furnishings for wards at St Vincent de Paul and costumes for the CHOGM.

The Nationalist party said it would be ready to go to court over the broadcasting authority's restrictions on what the party could say on air regarding Panamagate.

Another youth has come forward with claims that he received a savage beating at the hands of three Paceville bouncers. The 19-year-old was punched and kicked outside a club, with the beating continuing even when he had been thrown to the ground. 

The Malta Independent

Malta Public Transport has denied pushing for an all-Spanish workforce by cutting concessions to drivers that had been implemented by Arriva. Drivers have complained that the removal of these concessions was forcing Maltese drivers to leave the company in droves.
