Malta and Brazil have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing political, economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

Foreign minister George Vella said in a statement that the agreement “envisages a structured dialogue to be held on a regular basis alternatively in Valletta and Brasilia.”

“The two sides will also have an opportunity to discuss matters of regional and global relevance and increased cooperation within international organisations,” he said.

The MOU was signed by Fiona Formosa, permanent secretary at the foreign affairs ministry, and Ricardo Neiva Tavares, Brazil’s ambassador to Malta.
