Government to compensate Puttinu for hosting patients in the UK

Health minister Chris Fearne says government will pay NGO Puttinu Cares financial contribution for hosting Maltese patients and their relatives

The government today signed an agreement with Puttinu Cares to support Maltese patients who travel to England for treatment.

Announcing the agreement, Health Minister Chris Fearne explained that the government will pay a financial contribution to Puttinu for each night Maltese patients, or their relatives, are hosted at the NGO’s residences in London.

“This agreement highlights the need for greater collaboration between the health department and the NGOs in aid of the patient,” Fearne said.

Speaking during a football and volleyball fund-raising marathon in aid of charity, the minister explained that in 2015, around 700 Maltese patients received treatment overseas.
