Deputy prime minister Louis Grech has resumed his full official duties as from today, following a period of indisposition during which he continued to perform certain duties from home.

The announcement was made by his office. He underwent surgery last month.

During the period when he was abroad, his portfolio was taken over by the Office of the Prime Minister.

Grech, 69, has been deputy party leader of the Labour Party since December 2012. He was formerly an MEP, elected in 2004 and 2009, and prior to his political career served as chief executive officer of national airline Air Malta.

Grech is responsible for EU affairs and the implementation of the electoral manifesto.
