Consumer Affairs authority warns of dangers of inadequate sunscreen product

The Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority has warned that the Chrono Repair Solaire Sunscreen 30+ does not offer adequate protection

The Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority has issued a statement to warn the general public that the product Sunscreen Chrono Repair Solaire 30+ manufactured by Laboratorie Sintyl of Geneve has been found not to offer the protection stated on the packaging of FPS 30.

“The product therefore poses a risk of sunburn due to the lower level of protection offered,” a statement by the authority reads. It adds that the batches affected by this notification come from lot numbers 2627 and 2665.

The authority added that it has been notified about the inadequate protection through the EU Rapid Alert Notification system for products with quality defects.

Economic operators who have such products on their shelves are requested to immediately remove them from the market. Any consumers who might have purchased the product locally are kindly requested to contact the Authority on 2395 2000 so that necessary action can be taken.
