Mosta local council supports underground parking, calls for €1750,000 paintworks

The Mosta local council has unanimously supported the proposed development of an underground carpark • calls for the painting of all 15,000 parking bays in Mosta

The Mosta local council has issued a statement confirming its unanimous support to the proposed development of an underground parking system in the locality. A call for the design and development of the underground parking area was launched by Projects Malta.

The local council is also calling on the Planning Authority to paint some 15,000 parking bays in the locality, a project that would cost some €175,000. The funds would be derived from the Commuted Parking Payment Scheme (CPPS).

The Mosta council is still waiting for the government to authorise the residents’ parking scheme, after which the council would apply to ensure that priority is given to the residents.

The council reiterated that the underground parking projects was still at conceptualization phase and there was no final plan for the project. Echoing comments already made by Projects Malta, any underground works will be cancelled if it transpires that damage to the Mosta church is being caused.
