The Gozo Business Chamber has welcomed the collaboration agreement between Transport Malta and the University of Malta for the latter to conduct studies into the sub-sea tunnel which would connect Gozo to Malta.

On Saturday, Transport Malta announced that under the agreement, the University of Malta would be conducting geological and geophysical investigations into the tunnel. The scientific investigations will include both desktop and field studies, passive seismic measurements, bathymetric mapping, and a seismic study.

The final results of these investigations will also incorporate the results from the recently published Investigative Coring tender.

Welcoming the announcement, the Gozo Business Chamber said it is extremely pleased that both the government and the Opposition are “recognising the important of such a project to the economical and social aspect of the Maltese islands.”
