John Rizzo to step down as CPD head, Home Affairs Minister announces

Head of the Civil Protection Department John Rizzo is stepping down from his post, Carmelo Abela informs parliament

Head of the Civil Protection Department John Rizzo is stepping down, Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela informed parliament this afternoon.

Rizzo, who is retiring, was appointed head of the CPD in April 2013, after serving as Police Commissioner for 12 years.

He was appointed to the post by the Labour government soon after the general elections. At the time, he had also been appointed as consultant to then home affairs minister Manuel Mallia.
