Prime Minister Joseph Muscat opened the second edition of the Labour Party's fair 'Kwalita Malta'. The fair is intended as a platform for local products and a 'celebration of Maltese talent and identify.

Muscat said that that the first edition, held in 2011,  was a risk and a bit of an experiment, but it turned out to be a great success. He emphasised the importance of Maltese entrepreneurship, adding that it is important for local businesses to improve by competing with foreign products.

The Prime Minister also hinted that more foreign investment in Malta could be announced in the coming weeks.

"We are happy when foreign companies set up or expand their operation in Malta. Hopefully we will have more news in the coming weeks," he said.

Muscat said that Malta Enterprise has approved 45 projects so far this year, and that these are expected to generate some 800 jobs. Moreover, he said Malta Enterprise will also be launching a scheme that will allow 'disadvantaged' individuals who wish to start their own business to access funds.

"In addition to helping people find jobs, we also wanted to create and environment that will allow them to become entrepreneurs," said Muscat
