A new residence that will accommodate five people with disabilities has been opened in Ghajnsielem, Gozo.

The home, called Dar il-Gublew tal-Hniena, is a joint project between the government, who spent €350,000 to build it, and Fondazzjoni Arka, who will now run the home.

It is the fourth home for people with disabilities to be opened under the Labour government’s Socjeta Gusta scheme, and will adhere to new standards for such homes. Six other homes are envisaged under the scheme.

It was launched by parliamentary secretary for the disabled Justyne Caruana, who hailed the project as an ambitious one that will boost the quality of life for people with disabilities.
