The Labour Party has taken Opposition leader Simon Busuttil to task for failing to condemn two PN election candidates who recently passed crude comments against the government and its supporters.

During the PN’s recent fundraising telethon, election candidate and Gzira councillor Wayne Hewiitt urged supporters to donate money to the party so that it could defeat “the cancer that took over Malta in 2013”.

This, according to Labour, amounts to “insensitivity against all cancer sufferers”.

PN candidate and former TV candidate Salvu Mallia also recently engaged in a tit-for-tat on his Facebook wall in which he said that “every Labour supporter who opens his mouth ends up spewing garbage in the illusion that he is speaking reason”.

He also heavily criticised PN exponents who are profiting off the IIP scheme, calling them traitors.

“I’ll be rude, ghala z***i minnhom…If you are Maltese you would agree with me instead of defending those who are screwing up your country. If you want to call me a hamallu then go ahead, but people like you and the traitors you support don’t deserve to be spoken to any better.”

“The Opposition leader is determined to turn back the clock to the divisive politics that the public had voted out so strongly in the last election and that it will continue resisting.”

‘Be scandalised at Labour’s hypocrisy, not at me’ - Salvu Mallia

In response to the barrage of criticism aired at him from Labour supporters, Salvu Mallia took to Facebook to say people should be scandalized by Labour’s hypocrisy, rather than by his choice of language.

“There is enough hypocrisy within the Labour Party to open I don’t know many companies in Panama. In contrast, I am always open and everyone knows where they stand with me.

“I will apologize when Joseph Muscat comes clean on who owns Egrant [the third Panama company set up at the behest of Nexia BT], when he kicks out those Black Mass candlesticks [Konrad Mizzi and Keith Schembri] out of Castille, and when he formally apologizes to myself and for thousands of others who he had taken for a ride before the election.”
