Passenger traffic from Cirkewwa busiest on Friday and Saturday

In the second quarter of 2017, sea transport between Malta and Gozo registered increases compared to the corresponding quarter of 2016

A total of 1,415,326 passengers travelled between Malta and Gozo during the second quarter this year, up by 7.3 per cent when compared to the corresponding quarter in 2016. The highest number of passengers was recorded in April - 474,647 or 33.5 per cent of the total for the quarter.

According to data provided by the National Statistics Office, the number of vehicles increased by 8.3 per cent, totalling 394,106.

The number of trips amounted to 5,541, an increase of 2.1 per cent over the same period in 2016. Most trips took place in June - 1,886 or 34.0 per cent of total trips for the quarter.

During the first six months, passenger traffic originating from Ċirkewwa was busiest on Friday and Saturday, whereas highest numbers from Mġarr were recorded on Sunday and Monday.
