GWU condemns attack on journalists in Bugibba

A UnionPrint journalist and cameraperson were yesterday assaulted by a group of men in Bugibba

The General Workers’ Union (GWU) has condemned the attack on a UnionPrint journalist and cameraperson, who were yesterday assaulted by a group of Maltese men while on duty in Bugibba.

While no one was injured in the attack, the reporters’ equipment was severely damaged.

“It is unfortunate that people still try to win arguments by recoursing to violence in this country”, the GWU said in a statement issued this morning.

The aggressors have not yet been arrested.

The GWU has asked local police forces to take all the steps necessary to apprehend those who are “still caught up in their attitude of intolerance and violence”.
