A €5 million project to help ease traffic congestion around Marsa and Ħamrun is to be launched in the coming weeks by the government which will be issuing a call for tenders to widen parts of the Marsa-Ħamrun Bypass.

A similar project is being carried out in Gudja, which when finalised will add new lanes around the roundabout, easing  traffic flow to several main areas around the airport including Gudja and Kirkop.

Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg stated that Transport Malta aims to conclude these projects before the start of the new scholastic year.

“We are insisting on not wasting any time where improvements can be made immediately. I have asked Transport Malta to make sure that works which can be done this summer, start as soon as possible,” he said.

“We have also insisted on giving full attention to minimising the impact on road works on residents, drivers and other persons who use or live in the vicinity of these roads.”
