The search for two young men took a turn Saturday morning after the bags they were carrying at the time they were reported missing were found on the outskirts of Rabat.

Two bags containing clothes, shoes and mobile phones in Blata tal-Melh were found by fishermen in the area.

The 19-year-old Maltese and the 21-year-old Serb were last seen riding their bicycles in the area yesterday afternoon.

Family and friends took to social media to ask for information. Mark Petric, 19, was last seen wearing a grey top with the word 'Vegan' on it.

Police believe that the two went for a swim, which took a wrong turn after the sea turned rough.

Armed Forces of Malta personnel and the policemen are carrying out the search.
