The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists said it was shocked by the news of the death of Maltese investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.

Caruana Galizia was at the forefront of important investigations in the public interest and exposed offshore dealings of prominent political figures in Malta, namely in the Panama Papers.

Caruana Galizia was the mother of ICIJ developer and data journalist Matthew Caruana Galizia.
