Nationalist Party leader Adrian Delia should himself ask for an investigation into allegations against him, the Labour Party said.

In a press release this morning, the party said that Delia had confirmed on a radio programme today that Chris Said’s parliamentary motion asking for a board of inquiry to be set up to investigate slain journalist Daphne Caruana Galiza’s allegations, had been brought forward without his knowledge.

It maintained that Delia had to stop hiding behind claims that as Opposition Leader he could not be investigated by the board.

Instead, it said, it was he who should be the one to request an investigation into claims the journalist made, described by him as “extreme”, that he was involved in money laundering, drugs, and prostitution.

The fact that, following Caruana Galizia’s death, Delia dropped the libel cases he had started against her, had lowered the chances of the truth being uncovered, the Labour Party maintained.

“Delia should now realise that he is no longer in the courtroom. He is now in politics, and the people should know the truth about him,” it added.
