David Casa has withdrawn from the race for the post of Nationalist Party secretary general, and will be keeping his existing position as a Member of the European Parliament.

In a Facebook post today, Casa said that in light of what had happened recently, and after having discussed the matter with his colleagues and with PN leader Adrian Delia, he was convinced he could best serve his party and Malta by remaining an MEP.

Thanking those who supported his bid, he added that together with fellow Nationalist MEPs Roberta Tedesco Triccas and Francis Zammit Dimech, he could make a difference from Brussels, and stand up for what was right and just.

There have been to date no other submissions for the position of secretary general, however Pierre Portelli is considered a favourite for the post.
