Partit Demokratiku (PD) tabled a parliamentary motion, this morning, against the increase of trapping and hunting hours at the Majjistral Park.

The motion was signed by MPs Marlene Farrugia and Godfrey Farrugia and emphasized that the park is a “protected area of public interest”, where many go to enjoy the natural and quiet setting and experience its “ecological, socio-cultural and recreational values.”

PD criticized the Environment Ministry for breaching the Environment Protection Act and called on them to halt the legal notice and implement a four week public consultation period, allowing any person to “make representations to the minister or the authority of to both, stating how in his opinion the proposed regulations could be improved to reach their ultimate aim.”
