A marathon session, lasting almost two and a half hours, was held in parliament today on government budget measures.

As expected, all votes passed through with the government side voting in favour, and the Opposition against.

The votes included financial matters related to energy and water management, the police, armed forces and correctional services, environment, transport, infrastructure and education.

Finance minister Edward Scicluna had presented the budget for 2018 in the beginning of October.

The budget was praised for not introducing any new or increased taxes, but was criticised for its lack of measures on wages, rent, environment and transport matters.
