Existing licensees to continue paying current fees until end June

New gaming licence fee regulations will come into force come January 1 next year, with a transitory period being applied whereby existing licensees will continue to pay the current fees until June 30, 2018.

The Malta Gaming Authority informed its licensees that the Remote Gaming Regulation were amended through legal notice 409 of 2017, by virtue of which a reconciliation calculating the difference between what was due for the first six months of 2018, under the current fiscal regime, and what will be due for the rest of the year under the new rules.

Licensees who have paid more than what was due will be given tax credits which will amount to the excess money paid, and, likewise, those who paid less will have to pay the difference accrued by the end of 2018.
