Gazan authorities said Israeli forces shelled a shelter at a U.N.-run school on Thursday, killing at least 15 people as the Palestinian death toll in the conflict climbed over 760.

A spokesperson for the Gaza Health Ministry said that another 200 people were wounded in the attack on a compound offering shelter to those who had already fled the fighting elsewhere.

Hundreds of Palestinians had been inside the school in Beit Hanoun, struck today in the fourth such incident since the Israeli military offensive began.

UN Secretary General said Ban Ki-Moon said UN staff were among the dead and injured in the shelling of the school.

Ban said he was "appalled" by the news and "strongly condemned" the attack on the school.
