Police in Toronto responded to reports of a stabbing in a garage in the Scarborough area found two people dead and one person wounded who died later on.

According to Toronto police spokeswoman Constable Jennifer Sidhu, a fourth person at the scene of the crime was taken into custody.

A crossbow was reportedly found in the vicinity, and a police official told Canadian media that one of the victims suffered injuries that were consistent with a crossbow, leading them to believe that the crossbow could be a murder weapon.

Police later said two of the victims were male and the third victim was a woman, according to Canada's national broadcaster CBC.

A motive for the attack is still unclear, police added.
