Copenhagen police have confirmed that the body found in waters off Denmark, is that of Kim Wall, the Swedish journalist who was last seen on August 10 as she departed on a submarine trip with inventor Peter Madsen.

In a statement on Twitter Coopenhagen police said “ there was a DNA match between the torso and Kim Wall”.

The freelance journalist had been researching a feature about Madsen and his submarine, the Nautilus.

The Nautilus, a homemade submarine, sank hours after the search for Wall commenced.

Madsen had initially said that he had dropped Ms Wall safely near Copenhagen, but later changed his version of accounts by saying she had died in an accident and that he had “buried” her at sea.

Peter Madsen is being charged with negligent manslaughter.
