Gunman arrested after taking hostages at UK bowling alley

Police have arrested a suspected gunman after two employees were held hostage for four hours at a bowling alley in England.

A suspected gunman was arrested after holding two hostage during a four-hour siege at a bowling alley in Nuneaton, London.

Officers were called to MFA Bowl, in Bermuda Park at around 14.30 on Sunday after reports that a man with a shotgun had taken two hostages.

Officials said that the hostages –a duty manager and a bowling lane host- who were held for roughly four hours, were released unharmed.

The suspect reportedly walked into the bowling alley and yelled “game over” before ordering people to get out. Around 40 or 50 people were said to be inside at the time.

Witness Alex Mulholland said he was bowling when a man held a gun to his head.

"He was saying 'game over, game over', everyone was shouting, screaming, panicking, trying to get out and I didn't know what to make of it, really," he said.

Another witness from a nearly restaurant described what he saw at the scene. “There were police cars arriving, there was a helicopter, police dogs, armed police stood all around the bowling alley, around the outside of it,” he said.

The gunman, who was taken to hospital for treatment has not yet been charged or identified. Details about his condition were not released.

“We are pleased that we were able to bring this incident to a peaceful resolution and that there were no injuries,” Warwickshire Police Superintendent Alex Franklin-Smith said.
