Donald trump embarks on tour in Asia

US President Donald Trump has embarked on a 12-day trip to Asia during which he will visit South Korea, China, Japan, Vietnam and the Philippines.

The trip will be the longest tour of Asia by a US president in 25 years.

Joind by his wife Melania, President Trump started is tour in the US state of Hawaii where he visited the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor- the scene of the 1941 Japanese attack that drew the US into World War Two.

Trump is expected to show a united front with South Korea and Japan, while pressing China to keep a stronger like with Pyongyang.

Trump has previously experiences heightened tensions with North Korea over missile tests and their nuclear programme. Earlier this week, it was said that he would not go to the heavily fortified demilitarized zone between North and South Korea.

Trump is to speak to U.S. and Japanese forces at Yokota air base shortly after arriving in Japan on Sunday and will stress the importance of the alliance to regional security.

He will however, visit Camp Humphreys, a US military complex south of the capital, Seoul.

In Vietnam, Mr Trump will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation summit in Danang and make a state visit to Hanoi.

Trump also extended his trip by a day to attend a summit of South-East Asian nations in the Philippine capital, Manila.

The last time a US president made such a marathon was when George HW Bush visited the region in late 1991 and 1992. While in Japan, Bush fainted and vomited during a banquet.
